Why Can't I Edit Line Items on My Quote? (Discount Applied)

If line items on your quote are locked and you can't edit pricing or quantities, an applied discount is the cause. Here's what gets locked and how to fix it.

If line items on your quote appear locked and you can't edit pricing or quantities, a discount applied to those line items is most likely the cause.

This happens even if: the quote is not expired, it hasn't been sent to the customer, it hasn't been converted to an invoice, and you have full admin permissions. The discount is what locks the fields — not the quote status.

What Gets Locked

When a discount is applied to a line item, the pricing and quantity fields on that line item become locked. The line item description can still be edited freely.

How to Unlock the Line Items

To edit the pricing or quantity on a locked line item, remove or adjust the discount applied to it. Once the discount is cleared, the fields will become editable again.

After making your edits, you can reapply the discount if needed.
