Why Task SMS Reminders Fail: Invalid or Landline Phone Numbers

Learn why you may see a "Failed to send SMS" error when sending task reminders, and how to fix it.

When you manually send an SMS task reminder in Floorzap, the message goes directly to the phone number stored in the customer's contact record. If that number is a landline — or any number that can't receive text messages — Floorzap will display an error: "Failed to send SMS from the server."

Note: This is expected behavior and is not a system bug. SMS delivery requires a valid mobile number. Landlines, VoIP numbers, and certain toll-free numbers cannot receive text messages, so any attempt to text them will fail regardless of your account settings.

What to Do

  • Verify that the phone number in the customer's contact record is a mobile number, not a landline.

  • If it is a landline, update the contact with the customer's mobile number and try sending the reminder again.

  • If you don't have the customer's mobile number, consider sending an email reminder as an alternative.

  • If the number looks like a valid mobile number but you're still seeing the error, contact Floorzap Support with the customer name and phone number so our team can investigate further.

Keeping customer contact records up to date with accurate mobile numbers is the most reliable way to ensure SMS task reminders send without issues.
