Wastage percentage accounts for unavoidable material loss during installation. Learn how to set it up and when it applies to your quotes.

What Is Wastage Percentage?

Wastage percentage automatically adds extra material to your quoted quantities to account for unavoidable loss from trimming, pattern matching, and irregular room shapes. Instead of calculating overage manually, Floorzap adds it based on the percentage you configure.

Where to Set It

Wastage percentage is configured at the service type level:

  1. Go to Settings → System Lists → Service Types.

  2. Select the service type you want to configure (e.g., Hardwood Install, Tile Install).

  3. Enter your percentage in the Wastage % field.

  4. Click Save.

Typical ranges by material type:

  • Standard carpet / LVP: 5–8%

  • Hardwood or tile with patterns: 10–15%

  • Irregular room shapes: 10–15%

Important: Wastage Only Applies When Using the Measurement Tool

Wastage percentage is only added to quotes created using the Measurement tool. It does not apply to manual or direct quotes where you enter square footage yourself.

Example: If a room measures 500 SqFt and your wastage % is 10%, Floorzap will quote 550 SqFt of material.

Troubleshooting

My wastage % isn't calculating on my quote.

Check whether you used the Measurement tool to build the quote. If you entered square footage manually, wastage will not be applied automatically — you'll need to add overage manually or rebuild the quote using the measurement tool.
