Why can customers finalize a contract without signing or initialing? When a customer completes a contract without entering all of the required initials, the cause is usually how your contract template was built, not a problem with the signing feature itself.
Floorzap only enforces required initials when your contract template uses the built-in "Initial" placeholder. The placeholder tells Floorzap that a value is required in that spot, so the customer cannot finish the contract until every "Initial" placeholder has been completed.
If a template uses plain input fields (ordinary typed text boxes) where initials should go, Floorzap has no way to know those fields are required. The customer can then sign and finish the contract without completing them, so the contract can look finalized even though the initials were skipped.
How to Fix a Template That Lets Customers Skip Initials
Replacing the plain input fields in your contract template with the "Initial" placeholder makes Floorzap require every initial before the customer can finish the contract.
Go to Settings > Contract Templates. The Invoice Contracts page opens with your templates listed.
Select the pencil (edit) icon at the far right of the affected template's row. The template opens in the editor.
Find the fields where customers are meant to initial.
Replace each plain input field by choosing "Initial" from the Placeholders drop-down in the editor toolbar. The placeholder appears in the text as a green "Initial" chip.
Save the template.
After you save, Floorzap requires every "Initial" placeholder to be completed before the customer can finish the contract.
Where to Find Contract Templates and the Initial Placeholder
These details help you find a contract template and the "Initial" placeholder in Floorzap.
Contract templates are under Settings > Contract Templates, on a page titled "Invoice Contracts".
Each template's row has icons at the far right for viewing, editing (the pencil) and deleting it. Selecting the row alone only highlights it, so use the pencil to open the template.
In a narrow browser window, the row icons can sit off-screen.
The "Initial" placeholder is the first choice in the Placeholders drop-down in the editor toolbar. In a narrow window, the drop-down may sit under the toolbar's three-dot menu.
